In Internet Business, digital products are very common and often only sold in this format.  There are many benefits to digital products such as immediate access for the buyer, low production costs and convenient deliverability.

However, one hurdle to overcome is that many times an internet business will sell a product or service before it is actually produced due to the LIVE nature of the event.  An example of this is when an internet business sells tickets to a training webinar or teleclass that will later be turned into downloadable format.  Since the product/service has not occurred yet, how do you write a sales page before the digital product is produced?

First, don’t go into any specifics when making the offer (sales page).  Obviously, the details of the product are not known yet, so keeping the specifics of the product vague will prevent unfulfilled promises.  Instead, fill the sales page will the “big picture” benefits the customer will receive as a result of participating in the event.  If you have multiple speakers, write about how expensive it would to get coaching from each individual and how your offer less expensive.  Also, explain why it is beneficial to buy access to the live event instead of waiting for the digital product to be released.  Answer questions like: “What new information am I going to receive?” “How can this change my life/business?”  “What long term effects can I except from investing in this event?”

After the customer purchases, you will need to send them to a thank you page.  Since there is not a product to give them access to at this point, you are probably wondering what to write on this page.  To begin, thank the customer for purchasing your product.  Tell them that you appreciate their business and that you are excited to have them participating in the upcoming even (product).  Next, acknowledge that the call/event has not taken place yet, but after it does, they can return to this page to access the downloads.  Set up the page so it is really obvious how they will access the dowloadable product after the event.  Use oversized bold lettering, bullets and bright colors.  Use an arrow with the text “Click Here to Download” after the call takes place.  If you have multiple speakers, sections or dates of the event, add a download section for each piece.  This fills up the thank you page and adds value to the digital product.

As an internet business, selling digital products before they are made can be tricky.  Writing a good sales page that converts well requires specific components.  If you follow the suggestions made here,  are honest with your offer and be sure not to promise anything that you cannot deliver on, your sales system should run smooth.
